On March 19, 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.7, which temporarily suspends the rule requiring physical appearance before a notary. On August 5, 2020, Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order No. 202.55 which extended remote notarization to September 4, 2020. UPDATE: By Executive Order 202.38 dated June 6, 2020, the rule allowing for use of audio-visual technology for notarization and witnessing is extended until July 6, 2020.
