The judgement, apart from clarifying the position on whether such payments are royalties, clearly recognises copyright exhaustion in computer programmes setting to rest the debate regarding the effect of section 14(b)(ii) of the Copyright Act on the doctrine of copyright exhaustion provided under section 14(a)(ii).
